MDT Consilium

Multi-disciplinary team discussion (MDT, Multi-Disciplinary Team Discussion) is a modern medical model in which specialists from different fields work together on a single rehabilitation plan for the child. The MDT discussions at our Huizhou centre usually involve rehabilitation physiotherapists, PMT specialists, speech therapists (ST), CME therapists and psychologists — each looks at the child from their own professional perspective, and decisions are made jointly. This format is especially valuable for complex, rare and multi-system conditions, where a single speciality is not enough. The main value of MDT lies in four things. A comprehensive and genuinely individualised plan that takes into account every aspect of the child's condition rather than an isolated symptom. A reduced risk of diagnostic error thanks to several independent specialist perspectives on the same case.
