Which airport to choose

Guangzhou (CAN, Baiyun International) — the largest hub in the province with the widest route network. About 130 km from Huizhou via the G15 expressway (1 h 50 min transfer).

Shenzhen (SZX, Bao'an International) — a modern airport with many connecting flights from Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore. 80 km from Huizhou (1 h 10 min), often the most convenient option for families with small children.

Hong Kong (HKG, Chek Lap Kok) — for flights from Europe and via Istanbul/Dubai. Requires an additional ferry or bus transfer to mainland China (about 2 hours including border control). Suitable if there is no direct flight from your city to Guangzhou or Shenzhen.

The centre's manager will recommend the optimal airport for your dates — we regularly monitor schedules of Air China, China Southern, Hainan Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, and other carriers.

Useful tips

  • Direct Moscow — Guangzhou flight takes about 10 hours; connecting flights via Istanbul or Dubai take 14–17 hours including a layover
  • Direct flights from Tashkent to Guangzhou (about 7 h) are operated by Uzbekistan Airways and China Southern
  • Tickets are cheapest when booked 60–90 days in advance; an economy fare with one piece of luggage is sufficient for a two-month course

What to bring on board

Flying with a child is a task in itself. A few key items in your carry-on will make the journey noticeably easier:

Medical documents: printed discharge summaries, recent MRI/CT scans, neurology and orthopaedic reports. Duplicate them on a flash drive and in the cloud. The manager sends a checklist in advance of what we will need for the first examination.

Medications for the flight: if the child takes anticonvulsants, muscle relaxants, or special nutrition — bring at least 5–7 days' supply in carry-on plus a prescription (in English or with a certified translation).

Change of clothes and nappies — for long flights with one or two layovers, a full set is preferable.

Favourite toy / tablet with cartoons — reduces anxiety during takeoff and landing, especially for children with ASD or sensory impairments.

Travel adapters: China uses sockets type A, C, and I — a universal adapter will not go amiss.

In-flight meals on Air China and China Southern include a children's menu — order it when booking your ticket.
