Useful tips

  • Drinking water in 19 L bottles costs about 12 ¥ per bottle; tap water is only suitable after boiling
  • Cleaning is 40 ¥/hour (a deep clean usually takes 3–4 hours), help with small-appliance purchases is free
  • A child therapy chair-table can be set up in the flat — ask at check-in, we deliver it on the arrival day

What's around — daily life

Shili Yintan district is one of the best-kept in Huizhou. Within a 1–1.5 km walk:

Food and groceries: Wal-Mart and local supermarkets, Asian markets with fresh fruit and seafood, cafes serving Russian, Uzbek, Georgian, European cuisine — for children with dietary restrictions there is always an option.

Pharmacies and medical: 24-hour pharmacies with basic medications, the city paediatric clinic 10 minutes away for acute cases. If your child needs an urgent neurologist appointment outside the centre's schedule, the manager arranges a visit to our doctor within 1–2 hours.

Walks and outdoor rehabilitation: Silver Beach (Shi Li Yin Tan) is 15 minutes' walk away — shallow warm sea from March to November, sandy bottom, accessible even for children in specialised wheelchairs. On weekends many families visit Luofu hot springs, West Lake (Xihu) park, Yunshan island.

Climate: summer is warm and humid (28–34 °C), autumn and winter are mild (15–22 °C, no snow). Trips can be planned year-round without weather corrections — a rare bonus of Guangdong compared to northern China.

How to communicate without Chinese

Inside the centre — a Russian-speaking manager is always available. All individual sessions with Chinese specialists are interpreted into Russian (physical therapist, occupational therapist, CME-therapy specialist). Doctor's prescriptions are translated in writing.

Outside the centre — on the first day we hand out taxi cards with the home address, nearest clinics, pharmacies, and the beach in Chinese (12 standard cards, more on request). Show the driver — he will take you there without words.

In cafes and shops — apps like Pleco (Chinese-Russian dictionary) and Google Translate with photo translation of menus work well. Most restaurants in Shili Yintan are already used to Russian and Uzbek-speaking families and have QR menus with translation.

Emergencies — the unified ambulance number in China is 120; our manager is on-call 24/7 via WhatsApp/Telegram and accompanies you to the doctor if needed.

Myths and reality

Myth

You can't go anywhere in China without an interpreter

What's actually true

An interpreter is only needed for medical visits and formal documents — this is included in our service. For everyday tasks, gestures, smartphone photo translation, and pre-prepared cards are enough. After 2–3 weeks most of our families easily manage taxis, markets, and pharmacies on their own.
